Noel's Table, Bakery & Cafe

Anchor 1

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

OBJECTIVE

The brief was to create a farm to table restaurant concept, choosing from a real vendor from the Savannah Forsyth Farmer's Market, and creating a restaurant concept from their products, and create a fictional chef and story. I based the restaurant around my older brother, Noel, who currently works as a chef in Australia.

SOLUTION

Located in Redhook, Brooklyn, Noel's Table will offer a productive, inspiring, and simple escape from the busyness of New York to the roaming artists, students, and locals. It’s the perfect place to sit down and spend an uninterrupted afternoon journaling, catching up on work, or hanging out with friends.

ABOUT THE VENDOR: BOOTLEG FARMS

Bootleg farm is a small family-owned farm that produces different dairy and produce  and sells them solely at farmer's markets around Georgia. They pride themselves in their animals being happy and healthy, and even have names for each of their star producers on their website. They take pride in their hard work and simple farm life of caring and nurturing their land and their animals.

IDENTITY LOGO TYPE

Noel's Table brings a bit of that simple farm life to the fast-paced setting of New York City. The design reflects this minimalistic and simplistic lifestyle, one that gives a lot of space to breathe and isn't loud or overwhelming.

TYPOGRAPHIC

MARK

allmenus-nt.jpg

The menu design is very simple and understated. Everything is organized into their own sheets of different sized pages, allowing the different calm colored shades to be seen when stacked and clipped. The typography combines a modern san serif with a classic serif typeface, to emphasize the bringing together of two different lifestyles—the slow and peaceful country life with the hustle and bustle of the city.

MENU DESIGN

The catalogue cookbook was manually printed and bound to give an extra personal and simple feel to the book. The design follows the same style as the menu, combining useful recipes for pastries and small dishes focused on the dairy products found at the farm. I also wanted to include more personal touches, such as stories and narratives, as well as tips and tricks throughout the cookbook.

COOKBOOK DESIGN

I wanted to add something interesting to break up the recipes on every page by adding a fold out section that shows different ways to score bread. I thought this added a fun touch to the book. In my process book provided by the link below, you'll also find some other pages I filled with other baking related topics to add more interest and change the pace of the cookbook. This was also done to break up a lot of the white space throughout the pages.

how this concept came about, and how it was executed.
