The Origins Of Mobile Phones

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

OBJECTIVE

For this project we were tasked to create an infographic animation, focusing on how we could convey information, statistics, and narrative through our visuals. I chose to focus on the history of mobile phones, beginning with the early cellular infrastructure that allowed the first mobile phone to function. The narration is based off an article by Corey Protin, Here’s how drastically cell phones have changed over the past 40 years, from the Business Insider.

SOLUTION

The style of the video encorporates collage and stop motion techniques, a long with very grunge, dynamic, and vintage textures and contexts in order to bring the video back in time to the early 1960s, where much of the progression in cellphone technology took place. I wanted to incorporate typography, photo compositing and collage, as well as old archived videos taken from Bell Lab Technology and AT&T archive footage.
